Research-Based Discussion • Free Online Educational Event
Virtual and augmented reality technologies have evolved rapidly over the past decade. What began as experimental tools used primarily by researchers and technology enthusiasts is now gradually entering everyday contexts such as education, physical activity, and psychological wellbeing practices.
In learning environments, immersive simulations allow students to interact with complex concepts through direct experience rather than passive observation. Instead of simply reading about historical events or scientific processes, participants can explore interactive representations that engage multiple sensory channels.
In physical training contexts, virtual environments can provide immediate visual and spatial feedback, helping users adjust posture and movement patterns more effectively than traditional instructional formats.
At the same time, immersive environments have been explored as supportive tools for emotional wellbeing. Virtual landscapes designed with natural sounds and calming visual structures are sometimes used during relaxation exercises, meditation sessions, or exposure therapy techniques for anxiety management.
Despite these promising possibilities, researchers emphasize that immersive technologies should be approached carefully. Prolonged exposure may lead to sensory fatigue, temporary spatial disorientation, or reduced engagement with physical surroundings if not balanced properly.
This webinar series does not aim to promote a technological revolution in fitness, learning, or therapy. Instead, it focuses on understanding the psychological mechanisms that shape human responses to immersive environments and explores how VR and AR can be integrated into everyday life without becoming a source of additional cognitive stress.
